145000 mi.car and transmission died. Replace or part out? bought 2 yrs ago@10k

Well, the easy part is to say any car is worth more running. A rebuilt/new transmission could likely be half the value of the car. (try www.kbb.com) If you're looking for a reason to bail, this is it, but you'd be lucky to get the other half of the value in your pocket. If you like the car, grit your teeth and fix it.

The transmissions cost $3K to install. If the car's in pretty good condition then I would fix it since the rest of the car is very reliable. If you find a used transmission at car-part.com, as an example, make sure they give you a 1yr warranty.
