What causes hard shifting

Are you saying you changed the transmission oil? Has the transmission been serviced about every 30,000 miles? It should be, if it hasn't been. It's too hard to know without hands on testing, but you could have an internal transmission concern, or an input to the transmission (such as that which provides vehicle speed) could be an issue.
