Transmission get hot once in park can't get it out of park switch lock up can't

Getting in and out of park is a function of the shift interlock mechanism, released by a switch on the brake pedal that tells it when the brake is engaged and so therefore is safe to come out of park. Check the switch -- see if the brake lights are working when the problem occurs. If not, it' could be a switch or wiring issue. Further, check the shift lever mechanism.
