When I turn my ac on in auto it works but blows hot air out when I hit ac in

The ac button either turns the ac compressor on or off. In auto it defaults to ac compressor on. If you are not in auto and your ac is not blowing cold but the ac button light is illuminated try pushing it one more time. On some cars the button light stays off when the ac is on and is illuminated when you've turned it off. It's a little counterintuitive but some automakers go this route. Alex
