why does the *D* light start to blink when the car is in drive mode?

When the "d" light flashes it usually indicates a current malfunction monitored by the transmission control unit. I would recommend having the cars systems scanned to see if any trouble codes have been stored. Did the car seem to shift properly? Did it go into the final gear of overdrive? Rob Ocello
