here is a link to a repair manual site that is really good, there is a small fee. http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online
Most of the time this is a feature not repairable. Shop on line till you find either a 96/97 window actuator. It is very simple to replace. you don't have to make any type of alignment to the unit. They run around $80 ~ 90 + shipping. don't get taken by the dealer.
I bought a 1997 acura service manual for my daughters car... somewhat similar to the 1996 year... however if both back windows fail i would suspect the power window relays..then again .. read the next post about the plastic spool and the plastic stop to keep the metal eraser-sized crimp that will pull thru the pastics stop opening.. causing the window not to open or close.. as the small metal crimp not much bigger than the plastic stope opening will surely jam inside the stop as this hapened to our 97 acura.. a generic window regulator assembly on-line is $51.00.. not hard to replace... just a little attention to detail.. yet it sucks how all auto manufactures are taking advantage to us by making items breakaable after so many years or trying to save a buck by making simple repairs so difficult!.. for the most part auto relays are extremely reliable..fuse are different... fuses blow... relays still work... metal wire on plastic grooved spools dont work... especially if the plastic stop opening is barely bigger than then the eraser-sized metal crimp.. that will pull thru the plastic stop.... Great technology!.. Modern Marvels!!
