Cruise control light comes on but it won't work

A few months ago, I had to get a brake booster and starter replaced in my ILX. After that I noticed that my cruise control stopped working. The light will come on, but nothing happens when I attempt to set the cruise control. Is there a connection between the work done and the cruise control no longer working?
