Ford Flex center console not securing to bracket on Ford Flex

Problem overview

Some Ford Flex owners report experiencing issues with the center console not securing to the bracket due to a poorly constructed latch that is prone to breaking. This can lead to the console lid not staying in place, resulting in the need to replace the entire console lid or dealing with the frustration of the lid popping up regularly. Some users have found success by removing the latch after taking off the cover at the bottom of the console lid, while others have utilized M4 jack nuts and rivet nuts as a solution for failed lids where the screw bosses and latch pivot arms have broken off. Additionally, accessing the screws holding the hinge in place may require removing the center console altogether. If you encounter this issue, it is advisable to check the latch mechanism for damage and consider alternative fastening methods.
