Please help my 2008 mazda 3 is stalling and idling rough at stoplights.

We had to unhook battery for something and now car stalls when I have to slow or stop at lights. Runs low idle n dies. We tried the run car for 20 minutes in park then turn on air conditioning for 15 minutes. Stalls probably worse now. Does it matter that my air conditioning compressor does not work? Did we do something wrong? Please help. I use this car to drive my son back and forth everyday to a different town for school. I'm worried I'm gonna get hit when my car stalls in an intersection.

It's odd that just unhooking the battery did all this. I suspect maybe something like a vacuum line or hose was disconnected. If there is a check engine light on scan it for codes. You can also open the hood with the engine running and listen for a vacuum sucking type noise. This could cause your issue and may just be a broken hose.
