What is your question?
A month ago, I got check engine light along with a reduced power light on the dash. car would not accelerate normally. Got p2138 code. Replaced the accelerator pedal, and it fixed the problem for 3 weeks before that same thing came back. What could be causing this? Additional info: there is an extra cable attached to the battery for the sound system when I bought the vehicle (no sound system, though, the cable is just not connected to anything anymore). could this be causing problem with computer? Any help is appreciated.

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. It sounds like a frustrating situation with the Spark! If the extra cable is attached to the battery, but not attached to anything else, you can remove it. It's not likely that it's contributing to the issue but might be worth removing to be sure. There is a technical service bulletin (TSB) specifically for the P2138 DTC which points to the circuit being affected by water intrusion. Other possibilities still exist, and the recurring issue could also indicate a deeper electrical or sensor problem, and it's best to have a technician to pinpoint the root cause.
