First, check and ensure you have proper, clean engine oil filled to the proper level. Extended oil change intervals and dirty or low oil can contribute to failures setting P0017. Second, ensure the engine timing is proper and the that the timing chain has not stretched -- due to low oil, lack of maintenance historically. Lastly, continuous variable valve timing solenoids -- intake and exhaust - could be suspect. Hands on testing is essential using proper diagnostic tools, including a Hyundai GDS tool or equivalent.
