Oil spilled on alternator

What is your question?

I spilled fresh oil on my alternator. can I clean it with electrical cleaner, without removing the alternator? If so, do I have to disconnect the battery prior to doping this?

What makes this problem better or worse?

It isn't exhibiting any problems yet

Depending on how 'much' oil was spilled onto the alternator - might be better off leaving it be.
