m42 engine timing cover leaks are very common. replace gasket strip and seal.

The shop tried to tell me that it would take 10 hours just to get the engine down to the block in order to replace the gaskets. $$$$. Really like the car, but had a overheating issue on the freeway due to a failed water pump and pulleys. Not sure if its economically viable to keep fixing...something about aluminum blocks. Do you have an opinion?
