My odometer/tripometer/info lights are fading to the point I can't read them. I have this problem on my radio too. Is there an easier fix for this than the $1000+ that the BMW dealer want to fix it?

I don't know what the dealer found. Sounds like the dashlight control is failing. Try a BMW specialist or an auto electric shop. Here's a directory link for you: http://repairpal.com/bmw-repair-in-thomasville-georgia
