Noisy Engine

About a year ago, the car started clicking like a washing machine. If I accelerate, the noise increases. Now, it's always there. It "burns" about a gallon of oil every 200 miles! Sometimes, it is very loud when I go above 30 mph. Do I really need an engine(as I've been told, or just more oil??
