Noise comes from front axle area when I turn steering wheel; what is it?

It makes a slight noise in the same axle area when I am driving straight, but gets loud when I turn left or right, moreso left.

Noises can be difficult to diagnose even when you have the car in your shop, and you can reproduce the noise consistently. Without hearing the noise in person, it is very difficult. If you can reproduce the noise, try to get a mechanic to go for a test drive and see what they say.
If it's a clicking noise then you probably have a bad cv joint.
