"No key"

What is your question?

Fob port, must insert fob (driver right), unlocks to push start button. New fob bats, intermittent. Port won't retain fob (brother put key not fob and tried to turn on), now looser, but holds fob mostly. Seems to not always recognize either fob. Then it does! Nissan service not helpful, didn't find issue. Considering either port harness or card reader. A way to check/confirm? Roll the dice?
