My truck won't turn over an the gauges don't come on but the lights work?

(1990 Dodge D150)
in Lynden, WA on September 24, 2014
So I just recently picked up a 1990 d150 an while the previous owner had it he had problems so he put in a new distributed and a new water pump it ran for a couple days then he randomly he tried starting it an it's cranked over once then hasn't since. When I attempt to start it the trucks buzzes an the cab light an headlights work but the gauges do not do anything an it won't even turn over. I've tried looking for the computer reader an can't find it but if anyone has any ideas please let me know. It would be sweet to get another dodge back on the road!

Based on your description, you may have a ignition switch and/or starter issue. It is also possible during the previous owners repairs, he may have not have secured the wiring harness (if he moved it during the repairs) too. It is hard to determine this without inspecting the vehicle. The best thing to do is to have the vehicle diagnosed to determine where the issue lies. If you are referring to an OBD connector to check for stored codes in the ECM (computer) of the vehicle, it does not have one. Hopefully that helps!
