My mechanic states that my shift cable is broken. He quoted me a price of approx. 500 with parts and labor. Does that seem accurate?

Yes Sir; That price is actually within reason, the part lists for $272.61, ( which may have changed ), and the labor guide says 2.4 hours, which should be approx. $200.00, ( depending on their labor rate ), plus sales tax.
