My key won't turn and the wheel is locked

This happened to me once on my 2003 Rendezvous and the dealer told me to yank hard on the steering wheel and it did release. The dealer said it was because I was parked in a parking lot on a slight slop and that causes the steering wheel to lock up. It has only happened once but good to know.
