My engine light is on & i Smell Gas in my 07' Mercedes Benz E550 4matic

What is your question?

When I fill up the tank I smell gas inside & outside the car (its a strong smell) When I 1/2 fill the tank the smell isn't that bad ALSO my engine light came on shortly after. The car drives okay, maybe a bit slower when I try to accelerate (not sure on that one though) But the engine light stays on & there is a Light smell of gas? I don't know what code its throwing off. There are No leaks Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance
