I was told to replace gas cap so I did. but the light came on again. I was told it going to be a vacuum leak. any idea what might cause it to come on ?

have Autozone read the codes,ask them to print them out for you,post the codes here,before auto parts place tries to sell you something you don't need.and yes,check all vacuum hoses,engine area.vacuum hose is cheap.and will throw false codes.you probably have an evap code.
