my car started over heating and now it stopped. What do I do now?

Drove my car to an event about 8 miles from my house. As soon as I got ready to pull into a parking spot, my temp gauge went all the way to hot and water and coolant started leaking out from the reservoir overflow. I let the car cool off for about 2 hours and came back to check it. It seems like it's running fine, but to be on the safe side, I had it towed home. The next day I put more coolant in the car and let the car run for 30 mins. The fan never came on, so I tapped it and boom it came on. I took it for a drive and nothing happened. Still a little nervous to drive it normally. Any suggestions?

I would be concerned that the unresolved concern that caused the overheating has not been addressed. I would have the vehicle professionally checked, hoping that no further damage has occurred from the overheating in the first place. Then, you can get to the bottom of the actual overheating issue and resolve it.
