Depending on the type of engine this car has your head gasket may have blown due to the overheating. Yet your car should still be able to turn on. Did the engine leak out coolant or did you splash coolant onto the engine?

If the car was idling at the red zone too long this may of have caused some serious damage to the engine itself, pistons, seals, rings, head gaskets are sensitive to overheating and loss of compression after these get damaged is common which could be the reason to it stalling.
