My caliber stalls after about a 40 minute drive. The RPMS race but then stalls.

What is your question?

I can't drive the hwy any more than 40 minutes before the RPM's race and the car stalls out. I have to pull over where ever I am and wait. It acts as if it's over heating (the temp. gauge comes on) so I have to pull over and wait until it thinks it's cooled off. It's happened every trip for the last two years and no one can figure out what is causing it. There aren't any codes, just the temp light goes on and the car stalls.
