My 2006 Nissan Pathfinder is stuck in 4WD. Can the replacement be reset to fix.

The 4wd display has gone blank and the 4wd light is on and it drives in 4wd. I replaced the transfer control unit but it's still the same. Do I have to do something to reset it or program it.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Just in drive, reverse works fine.
