Lazy fuel pump - it’s kinda difficult to do but fuel PRESSURE needs to be TESTED.
If i fill the tank is it reasonable to assume it will run for a bit so i can get it to a car lot?
Filling the tank won’t help - just make sure there is sufficient fuel in the tank for engine operation.. I’d fix it if it and keep it were mine.. You ain’t gonna get much for it by trading. It’s your call of course.
I was afraid of that (its what i thought) fuel pump issue means death sentence for the old vanster needs other work as well and at this point may not be worth the trouble now if i can figure a way out to get it running long enough to drive it to a car lot to get whatever they are willing to give me for it
Can’t be positive without fuel pressure testing! ... Fuel pump replacement is that expensive - especially if you have the capacity to do so. Make sure the coolant temperature sensor is working properly - need a scan tool to check sensor data while engine is COLD - sensor reading must match ambient temperature. 126,000 miles - if the van is in pretty good shape otherwise - fix it and drive it! Good luck!
(Fuel pump replacement ‘isn’t’ that expensive)
just dont know what all to buy a pump is 1 thing but there must be other stuff too that dont come in the pump box also thank you for all your help so far Pushrod...you da man
IF pump replacement is required - kit you need cost about $28.00 @ ROCKAUTO. An auto repair savvy friend with some time on their hands would likely help you out if needed. You’re really better off fixing the van and driving it on awhile - it’s got a bunch more running left in it..
good to hear now to get it to my buddies house he has a real garage to work on it with a lift and all the tools i would like to keep it,the low miles and sound engine make me want to hang on to it.Its not pretty but its for work it does need breaks and exhaust too which i have the new parts to do so yeah its down but not out Thanks again Pushrod.
