What is your question?
Hi- I purchased my car used from Toyota back in 2001. A few years after I got it, I noticed I thought one of the brake light bulbs was having to be replaced too frequently. After the third or so replacement, I noticed that the light casing the socket locks into had melted so badly that I could no longer replace the bulb. I also noticed that the glass bulb itself was showing signs of having been melted! I could replace the bulb and dremel the housing hole open, but the bulb would eventually go out. I took it to Toyota, and they quoted more than I could afford, just for a diagnosis. Now, 3 years later, it has happened to both lights. The situation is very similar to the 97 recall except, from what I can tell, the socket itself is not melting. What is happening here?? I got a new brake housing this past Christmas, b/c the side w/ the initial problem now leaks water into it. I've found a used wiring harness online, and I've purchased new bulbs, a Haynes manual, and a new tail light relay (though, I must admit, I am not sure where it goes...) Please help!!
How is that website different than a Haynes manual? I have already gotten a hold of the Tail Light Wiring Diagram. It just only means so much to me...
