Hello, when the steering wheel is locked, it could be firmly resting against the lock in the steering column, making it difficult or impossible to turn the key. If this is the case, shaking the locked wheel left and right vigorously while turning the key with your other hand often is successful in releasing the lock under tension. If this doesn't help, ensure the vehicle's shift lever is in the PARK position. If it is not, it would keep the key from turning or being removed. Lastly, an internal issue with the key lock cylinder could be occurring.
