What is your question?
My Mazda just turned 67,000 trouble-free miles. Lately though, I've noticed a noise coming from under the hood that sounds like a metallic rattle and then sometimes a "whirr". The engine runs and sounds smooth however. Is this the sound of trouble brewing under the hood?

Its hard to guess without being able to hear the noise first hand. Could it be the air conditioning compressor cycling on and off or the compressor clutch going bad. Could even be a deteriorated exhaust heat shield.
the noise may be generated by the Variable Tumble Control System a rattle from the plates inside the intake manifold. The noise should disappear when the coolant reaches 65C
