this is an intermitent problem.while driving the instrument panel gauges will suddenly stop working for awhile then start again.sometimes they don't start working until the engine has been turned off for a couple of minutes.then everything is fine for months or it will repeat for a few days and stop for months. Is their just a gremblin in the system.has me stumped.

My frontier had the same problem. On the advice of my mechanic son-in-law, I put dielectric grease in the connections and sprayed the circuit board with WD-40. No problems since.
I have what sounds like the same problem. I have been troubleshooting this for about three years now (it's intermittent). What I have found is that it only occurs when the instrument panel is hot. Either from the sun, from the heater/defroster, or even from using the dash lights. I have found that when it occurs, if I run my air conditioner full - it will usually come back on. I know that does not provide you with a fix, but it may help you to understand the problem better and help avoid it and even correct it while your driving.
I have the exact same problem, heat causes something to fail. Causes an open circuit or a solid state power supply device to overheat and fail. Either way, it's a design flaw as many people have the same problem.
Common problem with these clusters. There is a fix for them. Visit http://www.mrwhizard.com for more info.
bcm or pcm was told that no codes can be pulled unless check engine light comes on.check engine light never came on.
