Key stuck in ignition. Car runs just fine and can go into any gear. The ignition will not go into lock to release the key. It justs goes from accessory to start and then I can start my car. After 24 hours though with the ignition in Accessory - the battery went dead. I can jump start my car but - this would probably just happen again. Who should I see or what can I get done to get this fixed, get my key out, and get the car ignition to go into Lock, Accessory, and Start.

Pop up the faceplate on the shifter. Look underneath There is a switch with two red wires going into it. This switch senses when the shift lever is in park. Cut the red wires one at a time and strip off 1/2 inch of insulation from each wire. Twist the two wires together and use either a marrette or a butt connector to secure. Voila, the key will now come out of the ignition switch. Saves the dealer telling you that they need to replace the shifter assembly - which they will tell you....
Try spraying some sort of lock lubricant down the key. The key or key tumblers in the ignition lock must be damaged. The ignition lock if it indeed needs to be replaced will need to have the key able to be turned to the accessory position. A Suzuki dealer or any repair shop should be able to attend to this problem. A good locksmith may even be a cheaper alternative to auto repair shops.
with a screwdriver i connected the exposed connection, but after cutting will that need to be replaced or is that a permanent fix with no worries THANKS
