I tried jumping the A/C clutch to get the compressor running, so I could add freon, but I jumped the wrong terminal and it sparked, then the engine shut off, tried re-starting. but barely ran (like out of fuel) then now nothing...
What is your question?
checked all fuses, found a 15 amp fuse blown. Still won't start. Turns over, but won't start. Check engine light came on also.
How long has your 2005 Mercury Monterey had this problem?

In addition - keep in mind the a/c compressor clutch WILL engage automatically - as soon as the system pressure is adequate enough to close the low pressure switch .. There is absolutely NO need to jump the compressor clutch !! .. Simply add refrigerant - that's ALL that needs to be done - it will enter the system on its own.
Once compressor is operational - THEN use pressure gauge to determine the *amount* of refrigerant charge.
