What is your question?
This happened 6 months ago and I called the dealership and was told that there was no fix for it at the time. About a month ago I had to have an AC compressor changed out so I ask the service writer about the clock problem and was told that there is still no fix for it. What do we have to do to get Hyundai to get off their butts and get us a fix for this. I use that clock on a daily basis especially after dark.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It just doesn't work.
How long has your 2017 Hyundai Elantra had this problem?

Hello, you can certainly reach out to Hyundai customer service (search their web site for email / phone info), and lodge your concern. However, I don't see it making them work any faster to resolve what is likely a software problem involving one of their suppliers -- the folks who make the audio unit for your vehicle. Sometimes fixes take time. I can understand this is frustrating. I'd probably order and stick on some kind of alternative clock device in your vehicle in the meantime. I know this is important to you, but in the grand scheme of things, I'd tolerate a clock concern instead of an engine stalling concern (or AC concern...)! Good luck!
