What is your question?
My oil light came on, so I added 2 quarts of oil and it was too much. The engine sounded like a diesel truck. I emptied some oil out. The noise went away, but my mechanic says, at most he tears apart my engine and find leaks, thousands of dollars. Or I let him change my oil and try to reestablish oil pressure, 100$. I feal like I'm being swindled.

You say you drained some out and the noise is gone? AND the oil pressure light is no longer on? I would say run like hell , from whoever is trying to sell you major repairs!!! Long story -short , years ago , lil ol' me , did the same thing with a Dodge intrepid 3.3L and exact same symptoms , I freaked out!! Drove it very carefully home(smoking and rattling, assuming the engine was trashed), Realized what I had done , SIMPLY DRAINED THE OIL AND ADDED THE CORRECT AMOUNT , and proceeded to get another 100,000 or so miles out of it!! Worst case , bring it to a different shop and ask them to simply perform an 'oil pressure test' No need to fill them in on details other than the overfilling part , just pay them to test it and it will be good money spent to put your mind (and wallet) at ease!--- Hint-- IF noise is gone AND no 'idiot light' is on , I'm pretty sure you will get the results I expect. Good luck!
