how difficult is it to change the starter in a 2003 chevy tracker 2.5 liter V-6 ? I have been a mechanic for many years but I have never changed starter on this vehicle, thanks for any help.

1 hour in labor. starter runs around 200. Disconnect the negative battery cable. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions. Disconnect the starter solenoid electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut and positive battery cable from the starter solenoid. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. Remove the 2 bolts (1) from the starting motor. Lower the vehicle. Remove the starting motor through the front area of the engine compartment between the generator and the inner fender. Roy

Thankyou for your advice, I used to work in an auto repair shop, the reason I asked was it looked pretty tight and I was curious if the alternator had to come out first. My mother bought this vehicle new in 03 and I have changed the oil religously, other than the starter I have not had to change anything, she has been very happy with this vehicle. Thanks for your advice,barry.
