how long do plugs, wires, and distributer cap last

copmuter states mutilple miss fire. wires, cap and one plug changed by dealer 2 years ago, aprox 10,000 miles ago. When enginge is under a load the check engine light flasshes and stays on. Three starts later light goes off. Problem happens on steep hill or long hill, on the highway on a incline.
