Vacuum Brake Booster Service and Repair, Procedures


















Removal 1. Remove the battery. 2. Disconnect the speed control actuator electrical connector. 3. Remove two retaining nuts and the speed control actuator cable and position aside. 4. Remove the two strut tower brace nuts and the brace. 5. Remove the windshield wiper motor. 6. Remove the rubber grommet from the lower cowl panel. 7. Remove the lower cowl panel nut. 8. Remove the lower cowl panel bolts and remove the lower cowl panel. 9. Disconnect the power brake booster check valve. 10. Remove the brake master cylinder and position aside. 11. Remove the retaining nut and the evaporative emission canister purge valve. 12. Disconnect the EVAP electrical connector. 13. Disconnect the EVAP vacuum hoses. 14. Remove the instrument close-out panel pushpins and remove the panel. 15. Remove the stoplight switch retaining pin. 16. Slide the stoplight switch and the booster push rod from the brake pedal pin. 17. Remove the retaining nuts and remove the power brake booster.Installation 1. Install the power brake booster and tighten the retaining nuts. 2. Install the stoplight switch and the booster push rod on the brake pedal pin. 3. Install the stoplight switch retaining pin. 4. Install the instrument close-out panel and push pins. 5. Connect the EVAP vacuum hoses. 6. Connect the EVAP electrical connector. 7. Install the EVAP valve and retaining nut. 8. Install the brake master cylinder. 9. Connect the power brake booster check valve. 10. Install the lower cowl panel and bolts. 11. Install the lower cowl panel and nut. 12. Install the rubber grommet in the lower cowl panel. 13. Install the windshield wiper motor. 14. Install the strut tower brace and tighten the nuts. 15. Install the speed control actuator cable and tighten the retaining nuts. 16. Connect the speed control actuator electrical connector. 17. Install the battery.
