The crankshaft position sensor is on the "outside of the engine", outside the timing cover between the crank pulley area and the air conditioning compressor. It is secured with one bolt requiring a flexible 10mm 1/4 drive socket. You should be able to replace it in an hour from under neath the car with the inner fender splash shield removed.
You need to pull off the timing cover and possibly the timing belt. This is no job for a novice.
