Having a VVT problem and engine ticks

Well, the easiest thing to do is to change your engine oil and filter if your "oil is bad". This can influence engine ticking noise, and may help resolve it. If not, testing needs to be performed to identify the source of engine noise. Unrelated to that would be your trouble codes which need to have diagnostic testing performed to resolve. Codes set refer to system issues, not specific failed components. Testing is needed.
