been to kia 3 separate times while it was still under warranty & they claimed they couldn't figure what the prob. was. No longer under warranty & problem is now worse... Can barely pump gas into the tank without it blowin all over me. what to do??

You have a plugged up carbon canister/vent valve assembly, that won't let the air be displaced as you fill up the tank. This is part of the EVAP system which gathers stray gas fumes so they don't get in to the air. Go to a better shop, in many cases, dealerships aren't what they used to be. Go to a place that understands Emissions Systems, this problem is really pretty basic, it surprises me that the dealership was baffled. other people seemed to get it fixed by replacing tank and fuel filter. I'm having same problem, also lacks in venting can lead to cracks/leaks in tank, another chronic problem with Sportage
thank you for your assessment, doc :) i'll get right on it...there is a mechanic up here that seems to be pretty good, i'll tell him what you said & see if he understands about all that & if so will get him to fix it. thanks again!!!
