fuel pump driver module offline

I have a 2002 mercury sable 3.0 v6. I have a diognostic code P1233/fuel pump driver module offline.The car seems to run fine, even though everything I find about this code says it should't be running at all. what can you tell me about this problem. Do i need to replace the module or could it be another problem??

The best way to describe your issue is that there is a communication issue between the fuel pump and the engine processor. The processor is expecting certain info, and the fuel pump module is not complying. Suspect that your fuel pump is faulty. You could also have a wiring issue between the pump and the engine processor. A last slight possibility is that the inertia fuel cut off switch may have an open circuit issue somewhere and be sending false information.
