FUEL GAUGE ACTING UP NOW TRUCK WON'T START,RUN

(1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)
in Kalamazoo, MI on April 28, 2013
GAUGE ACTING UP FOR A WHILE NOW TRUCK WON'T START. HAS HIGH MILEAGE, I CAN HEAR THE PUMP RUN WHEN I TURN KEY ON, SO IT SOUNDS LIKE PUMP IS WORKING OK. COULD IT BE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT OR FUEL FILTER? V6 I KNOW WHEN I FIRST TAKE OFF THE TRUCK IS A LITTLE SLUGGISH BUT THEN CLEARED UP AN RAN FINE UNTIL I STOPPED AND PUT GAS IN IT. THEN IT JUST WOULDN'T START .

make sure you have gas in your tank.change your fuel filter but before you put the new one in test your fuel pump by turning your key on without filter on fuel line and let somebody take a look if pumping gas out, if not your fuel pump is bad/ clogged need to be replace. good luck and be careful.
