Fuel filter

The Tercel fuel filter is about 12 inches below the brake booster (on the driver's side). There are two bolts (10mm socket needed to remove), a 14mm line wrench to open the fuel line from the fuel tank, and a 17mm socket needed to remove the banjo bolt that goes to the fuel injector rail. Try to open the 14mm line going into the bottom of the fuel filter first, it is often difficult to remove you must use what is called a line wrench (look at Sears/Craftsman catalog on line) if you can't open this fuel line stop! I have seen several people try to change the fuel filter and then have to tow the car to a garage because they either cannot get the fuel line on or get it to seal afterward.
