The code 1456 is for a leak, the system is not holding pressure, you smell gas ( dangerous ) so be sure that you have a new FACTORY fuel cap. But there is likely more to this story, unless your fuel cap was missing. Best way is too use a smoke producing evaporative testing machine. I believe the white little canister is part of the over flow system. Hondas do have issues with their 2 piece internal plastic fuel necks and they will leak. So be mindful of that fact, but that is not a final diagnosis.
