FRONTIER WILL NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE

There is a sensor that does tell the processor what gear you are selecting. This sensor may have failed, or the wiring at that sensor. Second - check the fluid level and condition of the transmission. If it's low or dirty, it may be an indication of internal transmission issues. Even if the fluid is clean and full, an internal problem is possible and a good diagnosis is in order.
