Mushy Road Feel and/or Shuddering in the Steering Over Bumbs on BMW 850i

Problem Description and Possible Solution

The front thrust rod bushingsalso referred to as tension strut bushingsare known to fail occasionally. The oil-filled rubber mounts weaken and crack over time, causing a mushy road feel and shuddering in the steering wheel when going over bumps.

When I go over 50 mph the steering wheel starts to shake. Someone told me I may need a wheel alighnment which is a cheeper fix. But if I get my front thrust rod bushings replaced they SHOULD do a wheel alighnment also!
