I would not say it's a "common" problem that you are experiencing, but I will say that weather and road salt related corrosion to the alloy wheels at the beads could possibly cause an air leak. I would have the wheels and tires dunked in water to verify where the leaks may be originating from. If it is from the rim, the tires should be dismounted and the rims cleaned with a wire brush thoroughly. A tire paste can be used for the rims to aid in sealing, and then remount the tires.
