Sounds like you are going to have to remove the starter.

I have a 1990 Nissan Stanza XE and for the life of me, I cannot find where the starter is. I called the local Auto Zone and they said the starter is behind the tranny but couldn't tell from the picture (being a transverse or sideways engine) if the 'back' of the tranny means towards the firewall or again being a sideways engine, towards the drivers side wheel well. Plz help a damsel in Stanza Distress! I've had so many frustrating problems I'm begining to think the car's real name is I can't STANZA you! *lol* Plz send response to rainbowexpress1@hotmail.com PS-where is the temperature guage sensor on that car? Nothing registers on my temp guage so i figure the wire to or the sensor is kaput. Am i close on thinking this?
