Had fuel pump replaced, 200 miles later check engine light comes on, told it's an evaporation problem. Replaced fuel cap, didn't help. Is there a problem that commonly happens when fuel pump goes out?

If the fuel pump was not replaced properly then it can DEFINITELY cause EVAP codes, because the sealing gasket at the top of the tank was not replaced and the old can get torn. First thing is to find out the EXACT CODE number and then see what the problem is, it may not have anything to do with the fuel tank work. see this article about Check Engine Lights http://repairpal.com/check-engine-light
If its "PO440" I wouldn't worry. Its a small vapor leak, I had a 2000 cavi with the 2.2 ohv and had this code for a year, never gave any trouble but yours may be different, same fuel system however
